You are currently viewing LQ as a guest. I have tried to compile it against the 64bit distrib, but didn’t work either.
The information from the system is: I have installed Ubuntu I did some research on the forums and found that a D-Link DWL-G card was supported and I think the page said “works out of the box” Having purchased the card I read the install guide.

I need help here. For example, this user installed some sort of realtek firmware: When I inserted the CD nothing happened other than an icon appearing on the desktop no Auto run? I just install ubuntu desktop I’m still pretty novice at compiling stuff, but I did what linud said to do in the readme.
They’ll be helpful in the future.
So, wait — This just hit me. Is this a firmware issue? So after have tried dozen of times to build the linux driver from DLink support site, I gave up and have tried with Ndiswrapper.
I suspect that no distro is really better than any other for wireless drivers. Actual data throughput will vary. I could not find a way to enable auto run in Linux.
