After that I made a new connection to the router with WPA security – and I dont see any problems with dropping signal or connection anymore. This operation returned because the timeout period expired.
Two days ago the connection started dropping not only on my home network which worked fine before but also on other networks every couple of seconds.
I even tested doing the same as yourself with 8. I just remember trying a lot of different things and rebooting a lot.

I think this is an SP3 issue. Or maybe SP3 might be the problem?

Yes I’ve tried using the vista drivers. Lenovo is committed to environmental leadership from operations to product design and recycling solutions. I removed the wireless card manually and put it back in, turned it on and it worked. There is a thread in that forum for it. Anyone seen this before? It solved the problem on a Mac running Windows I’ve posted this solution also in an Apple forum. I’m now having the same issue. As soon as I’ve mounted that card, I will report back again here.
Hopefully Jay will find the same success that 1200 have. I’v found that using the Intel PROset to control the wireless connection improves the fault-tolerance of the dropped connections; that is, although the connection still drops with some frequency, programs are less likely to see that this has occured than they are with the windows connection management. What drivers you tried using? If I start downloading pro/wirelesz large file, it drops the connection immediately.

I tried a Live Distro xubuntu and this problem does not occur there. When I do an F5, the Thinkpad software still shows the device as turned off.
