The setup routine autoconfigures everything, so if a compatible driver is there you shouldn’t need to tweak a thing. To my knowledge the only way to access the BIOS Computer Setup is by having the correct partition on your hard-drive which makes a little blinker show at the top-right of the screen upon boot up, in order to allow you to press F10 to access it. Put the hdd back in the computer, it will boot to DOS, go in the win98 directory and start the installation.

Is there some way to replace the emulated floppy on the Windows installation disc with the proper drivers and edit the Autoexec. OTOH you could look into the config. I stuck an image on a hard-drive with Windows 98 pre-installed onto it and it all seemed to work great saving me lots of time in the long run – until finally figuring out lots of linkages stopped working and lots of things were erroring out driver conflict, memory issues, etc.

But as long as any CD can boot and leaves you at a dos prompt, you can then remove that CD, insert the Win98 Cd and type setup, away you go! It was all mostly parts but I happily managed to recover it to a working state!
